but it rained... We finally got in to the studio December last. What actually began as an exercise for the Great Indian Rock 5 album grew, as is usual, into a full time career for the entire bands past year. BUT IT RAINED was recorded at UNITED STUDIOS Limited or USL at Panchsheel in New Delhi of India. Thier top-end gear and studio acoustics were voted best among the resident jingle-eers of the band. Plus, NIGEL ZACHARIAH, the studio engineer 'n one-time-python-keeper was a personal friend of ages, PLUS they were the least inexpensive folks. So USL we went. Recorded
and Mixed entirely on PROTOOLS, add of course a few outboard processors
and Nigel's magic wand. Infact most guitar tones are pure software amp-simulations.
Apart from the regular personal instruments of ours we also utilised the
following : The Tracks starting with the drums and ending with the vocals were laid down in 2 days of 12 hour shifts. Then came 2 more days of layering, embellishing, voice-overs and the little but MOST important details. Another 2 days in the Mixing-Hole with Nigel gave rise to a big new dream. The final mix sounded way better than we expected, in fact so good that we started making grand plans about a video, or an album, or a maybe .... till it all got washed down the drain of reality, and got lost in the stench of the "mass-appeal-formula-only" music industry. And then came Dhiraj, read on to gather what happens next ... same place ... same time ... but the next link ;) THE VIDEO |
